...I guess that our hearts choose who we love...

...love's wardrobe (except for Grant's "sack" !) selects it own sartorial splendour...

...pink socks, footy boots, bare-foot, sandals...

...it doesn't matter, when it all comes down...

..."Bring It All Down..." (?)

..what I do know is - the music of Bob Lind requires me to listen, take on board, apply the relevance (or enjoy the disparity) - and ENJOY !

I remember him. He had a rather short career though didn't he? I haven't heard his songs in a LONG time, I can only think of a couple.
You still hear the version of It Must Be Love that was done by Madness quite a bit, and it sounds OK but not as good as the original.

Lost In The Crash

He was around mainly in the early 70's but had a major hit in the 80's with 'something inside so strong'. Unfortunately, like so may singer songwriters of the time his talents were not fully appreciated.

Bob is a very required/different taste in today world.
A Man that can transfer words to memories and feelings.
A person that can open doors to ANY songwriter thinking of writing a note.
His songs are first poems and then somehow though his magic and TONS of cord changes become a part of your soul.
I visionary that is very happy being Bob Lind.

I was really pissed off to discover that Richard Hawley is playing tonight in Perth! Much too late for me to go - he is probably playing as I type this... and since I have to give an important presentation tomorrow at Uni perhaps it's just as well, it might have been too much of a distraction.

The pre-event publicity seems to have been approximately nil. I don't believe he is known in this country at all - I found out about the event through http://www.eventful.com... but getting the email the same day as the concert is not much use, it would have been nice to get advance warning.

I just found this very nice video by a couple of Swedish girls.

Yeah, this being the internet, I know how that sounds, but really - give it a listen. They've got great voices.

I gather this Tiger Mountain Peasant Song is not a Bob Lind song, correct?

Since we seem to be discussing non-B.L. material now, here's a clip that I think would appeal to many members of this forum. It's a cover - I haven't heard the original so I can't compare, but I think this version is a ripper.

And here's the original version by Fleet Foxes.

Great new band. I have their EP and full-length CD.

Oh, wow. Momus.

The original is by Momus, who are (is?) a little hard to explain. I only have a song or two by him on mix tapes, but the name pops up a lot. As a musician, he's sort of a bridge between pomo conceptual art and dance pop. Like if the Pet Shop Boys were suddenly possessed by members of Television, Leonard Cohen and Steve Reich. He also does a fair amount of writing and lecturing.

You can read more about him here, but in all the words it's easy to lose sight of the fact that a good deal of his music could be played in a Barcelona dance club without anyone thinking it was out of place - unless they caught the lyrics. He's got a cool site over here and you can hear a couple songs here and here.

Anyway, that's a great cover.
