America's Oldies But Goodies, Episode 16

Lind's just been interviewed for the 16th episode of America's Oldies But Goodies - the 60s, a podcast about exactly what you think it's about.

Then and now the class shines through...

I'm loving Magellan - in the process of compiling a mixed Lind playlist (again), as my vehicle has no MP3/CD player but has a USB port.

I'm lucky to have downloaded some of Lind's demos from this site when he hung them from his site tree, so lucky pluckers (what did he say...?!) like me could access, and they also form part of the mix.

No sign of an Aussie tour, I s'pose...hmmm?

to be honest I found that interview a little disappointing. I suppose any publicity is good publicity, but it seems to be a program about people in music, so I'd think he should at least play a couple of songs from each of the people he interviews. We didn't even get EB in its entirety - and I dare say anyone who knows who Bob Lind is would know that song. Wouldn't have hurt to play something from one of the recent albums, since he spent some time talking about them.

Yes, as Lind ruefully has pointed out on numerous occasions, there are some who prefer to stay rooted in the past and sigh wistfully for repeat after repeat of an established iconic song...

I believe you can do both....never turn away from the great accomplishments of yesteryear. yet be open and savour the today happenings, sounds, ideas, opinions etc.

As a perfect example of that, Procol Harum have recently released a new album, 14 years after their last one and 50 years after A Whiter Shade of Pale topped the charts. It's a good album too; maybe not a masterpiece, but very good.

:D

Lind didn't exactly "Wander through the garden fence" but ran after something to believe in.
