Re: Here I Go Again...

Wouldn't it be funny if Bob toured Australia at the same time that Danny was over in Ireland? Just sayin. :D

Heh.

Re: Mystery female folk singer

The song is "The French Girl", written by Sylvia Fricker and Ian Tyson. Given that this was in 1967, when about half the people of university age seemed to be into folk, if not actually trying their hand at it, I wish him the best of luck in identifying her. Most likely she was just a tale...

Who said I care? I just thought it was an interesting observation, that's all.

"Wrong Again"

I was just listening to Bob's demo recording of this, not having done so in a long time, and was thinking it sounded familiar. I finally realised that the tune is almost exactly the same as "Exeter (the Wedding Waltz)", except with a different time signature, viz. 4/4 time instead of 3/4 w...

What was great for you in 2013?

For many of us, Finding You Again was the most awaited release of 2012. This year, however, there was no new album from Mr Lind, so he is not a contender. I have bought quite a lot of music this year, but most of it dates from before 2013, some of it by a good many years. In 2013 however for me the h...

Re: What are you listening to lately?

Bought two more Jimmy Webb albums: "Land's End" and "El Mirage", which will probably complete my Webb collection. I still think Land's End is his best album, but El Mirage has The Highwayman and is essential for that song alone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0-Sdf4x1fg Also bee...

Some interesting background info there - and I note that Bob shares my assessment of Aretha's version of "Butterfly". :D

Re: What are you listening to lately?

Bought heaps of new CDs lately - I need to slow down a little. I have started to acquire parts of Jimmy Webb's back catalogue, some of which I have on vinyl but nothing to play it on, some of it which for some reason I never picked up on at the time of release. I have got, and have been listening a ...

Re: New Live Performances on the Music Page

EB is certainly on the "best list" but also countless others. Recently heard EB on internet radio while driving. Always nice for me when someone else thinks to "program" it. I told Bob several years ago how much I always loved "Remember the Rain" ,,,, his response was ...

Re: New Live Performances on the Music Page

Also on the subject of the Music Page, these words appear, preceding Bob's EB video: This is by no means Bob’s best song, but it’s the one most people know him for: “Elusive Butterfly” I'm wondering which of Bob's song(s) might be considered "best," IF it's true that EB is "by no mea...

Re: Honours to Bob and Judy Collins.

What's the "honour" they are receiving?

Judy Collins is a great performer, and very underrated as a songwriter. The trouble is, she is so good at covering, and in some cases improving, other people's songs, that her own compositions tend to get overlooked.

Re: What are you listening to lately?

Paul Kelly - Songs From the South vols 1 & 2 I've said it before and I'll say it again: Paul Kelly is probably the only Australian performer worthy of sharing a stage with Bob Lind. Actually I think a concert featuring both of them could work quite well. Maybe Bob should mention it next time he ...

Re: Lind on the radio, Sunday 8 Sep.

I just listened to it. What a strange programme. Not quite what I expected.
Jarvis certainly has eclectic tastes in music!

I was interested that he confirmed my suspicions: the song Bob Lind (The Only Way Is Down) was an intentional homage to Truly Julie's Blues.

Now the truth comes out.The lamb didn't lie down on Broadway. It dropped there because it was dead. Slaughtered.
