I love hearing other artists cover Bob's songs. It's like looking at favorite landscapes from new angles. And everytime I hear a different artist sing Elusive Butterfly it brings back the original magic I felt--I get recaptured by its "nets of wonder" (lol).

Thanks Grant. Fantastic article! I learned things about Bob I never knew before. I think that's the longest interview with I've ever read. And I can't wait until his novel, "East of the Holyland" comes out on Lulu.

I haven't forgotton about this idea, and I bet a lot of others haven't, either. If you can't put a whole novel on the web (that would admittedly be daunting task), maybe you could post just a couple of chapters, like Seemars suggested. You would make a lot fans ecstatic.

Gorgeous song, and has long been one of my Lind favorites, up there in my top five. It amazes me that songs like this have not received more general attention. A lot of deaf people out there I guess...

I agree with Rob--this is a torturous, even sadistic--dilemma you have devised for us. Saving only three songs implies that our other favorites are somehow expendable :x . If ties were allowed, I'd have at least twenty of them. Anyway, here is my list: Elusive Butterfly Sophia's Lullaby From the Roa...

As soon as I heard Bob's new songs it was apparent that the lyrics were much more mature and resonant than the ones in his older material. They really do fasten themselves to your mind and make you wonder how so much power can be compressed into so few words. Look at how mature love is described in ...

Yes, "It's Just My Love" is a wonderful song, absolutely lovely. It is in the top five of my favorite Lind songs for sure. Terribly underrated...

The last thing I wanted to do when I wrote about my ideas regarding Butterfly was to start a theological discussion, or worse, a debate. As I said, I was just describing my personal reactions to the song and why it may have affected me the way it did. I know Bob didn't intend to indoctrinate anyone....

What Elusive Butterfly Means to Me

The ideas that follow are strictly my own feelings and thoughts about "Elusive Butterfly". I am not implying Bob had these notions or conclusions in mind when he wrote the song, although he did say somewhere that it's related to longing. I have considered for many years why the song affect...

What a fantastic idea Bob, making one or two of your novels available. Just in the past few days, in fact, I have been thinking about how great it would be to read some of them. With your lyical and poetic talents, what a treat that would be. Hope it can happen one day...

The world has lost a genius

This post only relates to Bob in an indirect way. There have been just a few people in my life, aside from my family, who have occupied my thoughts almost every day. Bob is one, and another was Norman Mailer, who died this morning. I feel sick. He was a genius and an immense literary figure, a man w...

Kie--I like that Beach Boys tune, "Don't Worry Baby" very much as well. I remember hearing it in the car 10 years ago or so during a trip with my family, and although I had heard it many times before, on this occasion it cast me in a spell. Funny how that can happen sometimes with a song y...
