Re: not even an acquaintance

Sounds like the impostor couldn't make up his mind whether he was pretending to be Bobby Darin or Bob Lind.

Re: Lines that changed lives.

I had a Morris Minor from 1966-1970. I got it when I was in high school and it lasted through my first two years of college. Since I live in Southern California, I had a lot of fun "rolling towards the ocean" in it. Trusty? Well, not any more or less than all of the other old cars that my ...

Re: The Magical Music Store - a fantasy...

Sometimes it takes the personal becoming the political before someone takes a stand. Take the economy, for example. I can remember a song that Bob used to sing back in LA in the early 1980's. I think it was called "Hear my Heart Beat", and it was written from the perspective of someone who...

Re: ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF BOB's FIRST NOVEL

Danny, you definitely have a grand idea there. A talking book read by the author .... and occasionally the protagonist sings one of his folk songs when the plot reaches an appropriate point!

I wholeheartedly support your bid to bring Bob to Australia. After all, Southern California is on the way there from Florida, so a stop here for a show or two or three would be a natural to add to the itinerary.

I guess that Herman's diction must have been bad! My mom made the same mistake that your brother did, and also thought that the words to the song were "she's a muscular boy."

[quote="Daniel H"]I agree with Rob--this is a torturous, even sadistic--dilemma you have devised for us. Saving only three songs implies that our other favorites are somehow expendable :x . If ties were allowed, I'd have at least twenty of them. Anyway, here is my list: Elusive Butterfly S...

Between your vivid descriptions and the magical Bob Lind soundtrack, this thread has turned into a wonderful travelogue/adventure film in my mind.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Blah Blah Friend - I also went to many of Bob's shows at the Bla Bla Cafe and remember the songs that you speak of. I was glad to see that "May" and "How the Nights Can Fly" made it onto the Live at the Luna Star Cafe cd, but I still have fond memories of songs like "B...

Then I guess that I won 't mention the fact that I have 5 or 6 copies of the Verve album, still in the original shrink-wrap. They have never been opened and never been played. I've had them since the early 80's. Bob had mentioned to me once (or twice, or several times) that he didn't want anyone to ...

I agree. The songs that are on the Verve album are a reflection of what the the other "folk" artists were producing at the same time. Several of the songs on that album were also recorded by Judy Collins, Joan Baez and others. However, in addition to those traditional and folk cover songs,...

Yes, Bob is right. Consider Jimi Hendrix, born 11/27/42, just 2 days after Bob.

Hope you have the happiest of birthdays. :D

I just bought the Krauss/Plant cd tonight. I probably won't get a chance to give it a listen until tomorrow when I'm stuck in Los Angeles traffic and wishing that I was driving through the Smoky Mountains instead.
