Re: This singer reminds me some of a young Lind

Yes. Internet is the place for music. Commercial radio - in the States, especially, is pretty much all owned by the same conglomerate and plays off the same rigidly controlled playlist. Not fun for more than a couple of hours a month. I'm a big fan of listening to people on blip.fm lately. It's not ...

Re: Zip

I'm a fan of tangents and meandering parenthetical asides - too much of one, really. So, personally, I may have an equal tendency to overcorrect and get narrow. But this site, like most of life, is assembled by committee. I'll run this by the other members of the cabal and see what happens. I like t...

Lind interview: Pale Blooms and Beyond

There's a new interview with Lind over at the Pale Blooms and Beyond blog.

You might be interested in his thoughts on "the biz" and self-distributing and what it takes to reach a new generation of listeners.

Re: 3 videos from Spain

Hendrix played a restrung, upside-down guitar - fat strings on the top. (See here .) Sir Paul, likewise . Dick Dale (the "Misirlou" guy) never restrung his guitars. The fat strings are at the bottom . Some folks think that's why he got the sounds he did (and still does). I imagine that mak...

Oh, that's not a watch - it's a regulator for the bionics in his wrist and fingers. He is a finger-picking machine... literally.

Re: 2010 Shows

Will Bob ever make it to the Adirondacks in NY? What's an Adirondack? Sounds like something you would wear. It's a thick, rather heavy pancake - a bit like a crumpet made of steel. The joke goes that, since the people of upstate New York traditionally use iron-fortified red wheat flour to make them...

3 videos from Spain

I've just uploaded to YouTube some Basque TV footage. I mention this here because it happens to be Basque TV featuring a live performance by Bob Lind, covering three songs: 1. "Wearing You" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFP13-OVMSc) 2. "Maybe It's the Rain" (http://www.youtube....

Re: How the Nights Can Fly - Richie Havens...

Havens always seems a little like a storyteller to me. I think it's because I always associate him with that Woodstock footage with the drums and the caftan shirt, which just looked "Hey, I'm a traditional teller of tales! Come listen!" to me.

Lind on Basque TV

These three songs were taped in Spain when Bob was promoting his concert in Bilbao. They videoed him doing a radio show on the Spanish equivalent of the BBC. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for your old friend Bob Linden . (To paraphrase Steve Martin: Those Basques have a ...
