Re: a list of my music

^^ Some of those artists you mention are favourites of mine - others I am not familiar with. I imagine lots of people familiar with Demis Roussos' love ballads that he recorded during the 1970's would be shocked to learn he was part of a progressive rock band, and a seminal one moreover. As for Vang...

Re: If Bob .....

Hey Mondrian, apparently Bob originally wrote no less than 5 verses for this song. There is a thread about it somewhere - you can probably find it if you search. His producer cut it down to two. There was some discussion here about whether the more verses the merrier, or whether the song is best as ...

Re: Misleading Lyrics

Mondrian, I think the problem is that most of us who visit this board are not the slightest bit interested in horse racing. As you say, the site does need to be livened up, and I visit every so often to see if any new interesting discussions are posted, or any new additions to interesting old discus...

Re: Honest Mondrian's Gambling Joint

If we stop seeing posts from Mondrian, we can assume that it's because he lost everything on the horses and had to sell his PC and modem to pay off his debts.

Re: The Story of Music

The programmes seem to be no longer available directly from the BBC's site - however it looks as though they can all be found on YouTube (why does that not surprise me?).

Listening now to the first episode.

The definition of "horse sense": that inestimable quality in a horse that stops it from betting on a man.

Re: Honest Mondrian's Rambling Joint

"Rambling" has been taken very literally here. Won't be saying that when you are a millionaire from my tips. :D This time next year Rodders ..... (does this translate?) Well, if I don't make many posts in this thread it's not because I don't appreciate your contributions - it's because I ...

Sounds interesting. I suppose I'll seek it out sometime when I have the time to listen.

oh, don't get me started on mondegreens.

I believe the person responsible for one of my favourite mondegreens has actually been known to post on this board: "She's a muscular boy" (Herman's Hermits).

Re: On Money, Asteroids, Cats etc

As I recall, those nets were used in an ATTEMPT to capture the butterfly. Unsuccessful attempts, because the butterfly was... ummm... elusive. A bit like chasing a rainbow, as sung by The Seekers, or trying to catch the wind, as Donovan valiantly tried to do. There's been some beautiful songs and l...

^^ Just be sure not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There is still some great music being written and recorded, though you do have to seek it out.

Yes, the board apparently does let you post as a "guest" - a bug that I thought had been fixed. Seems a great way of inviting spam.
