Re: Proving Magellan incorrect...

My copy has not arrived yet. I guess it has to come from the USA; I hope they didn't send it in the wrong direction, in which case it may have fallen off the edge of the world! I took the liberty of updating the Wikipedia entry on Bob Lind to include listing and brief discussion of the new album. I ...

Re: Proving Magellan incorrect...

I never heard of either Rat Bastard (or Harry Pussy), but I guess this was who Bob was referring to when he said that this album featured an unexpected collaboration.

... and I see Bob's new Magellan album has a Road song, and a Rain song... go figure. ;)

Re: The photo on the website entry page

I like the new photo much better! Bob looks awake in this one, and actually looks quietly pleased with himself.

Re: Proving Magellan incorrect...

Good that the new album is out - or imminently so. I'm a little puzzled though, because I distinctly remember Bob saying somewhere on this board that it was going to involve some kind of collaboration with someone whom we might not have expected - though I can't find that post now. Was there a chang...

Re: May

So am I the only one who has Bob's wonderful song "May" stuck in their head since May 1st? I have loved this song since the first time I heard it in the early 1980s. I don't have the same attitude to the month of May that many of you probably have. Here in Australia it's late autumn, you ...

Re: 50 Years Ago This Week

I recall being in the same room with my mother and somefriends of hers when the Beatles were in Oz in 1964 and TV was showing some footage of them. My mother said something to the effect that she didn'tg like their music at all and their hair was a bit long, but at least that long hair was neatly co...

Re: 50 Years Ago This Week

^^ While I am in broad agreement, I would place the golden era as beginning around 1966 and ending sometime around 1975 or 1976. I didn't take a lot of notice what the bands were wearing, I only knew them via the radio. Poor old Matt monro. Music was indeed moving on - and the most important aspect ...

Re: Song for the day

Yes, and that's all you have done since I arrived here. Argue. You could have made me welcome. You didn't. You argued with me right from the get go. You even told me that, at first, you felt that I was a spammer. Rather than quit arguing, maybe it would have been best had you not started in the fir...

Re: 50 Years Ago This Week

Coincidentally, I had the Ballad of the Green Berets on the brain this week, not having heard it for years, and it's not even a song I like all that much. The best song on either of these charts is of course EB - but boy there are some other gems in there as well: Simon & Garfunkkel, Petula Clar...

OK, I'm done with arguing. If you can't understand what I'm trying to say, there is really nothing I can add to explain it any better.

Re: Song for the day

As of this minute, my Honest Mondian’s Gambling Joint thread has attracted 1,119 views, that’s almost 28 per day and it’s about horse racing – not music. It’s undoubtedly the most popular thread this year, by a long way. I would say a better index of popularity is how many people have participated ...
