I never realised...
All this time I have loved this song and I never realised.... I thought it was about an entomologist running after butterflies with his net. You mean it's supposed to be about people? Seeking after other people? Seriously, I think butterfly stands alongside Gentle On My Mind as two of the best...

Covers
I believe Bob has hit the nail on the proverbial with his comment that there is no point in doing a cover of a song unless you give it something extra or different. I have heard countless covers that sound almost identical to the original. As far as I am concerned there is only one reason why that h...

Lost verses
Wow, not only do I learn that there are 3 "lost" verses of elusive Butterfly, but now we get the lost verse of Remember the Rain!

Dedicated fans
Hmmm. No doubt Jeff & entourage will look back on this occasion and Remember the Rain.Lind wrote:Jeff and his wife and brother made an 11 hour drive from another time zone, through torrential rain on a broken, torn up highway to see one 90-minute show.

Bob Lind songbook
I still have my original copy that I bought back in 1966! Probably the same one, contains the words & music of the tracks on Don't Be Concerned, plus Remember the Rain. At that time the only B.L. music I owned was an EP that had Elusive Butterfly, Cheryl's Goin' Home, It Wasn't Just the Morning ...

One Week Wonder
Check the following link, Brian: http://www.onmc.iinet.net.au/trivia/trivia.htm#PAGE4 You will find that Bob Lind is one of the artists who has the dubious honour of spending just one week at the top of the charts in either Australia, the U.S. or the U.K. (i.e. only one of those 3 countries), and ne...

Rereleases and women
I hope the bad news about the right to download is good news! i.e. I hope it means that something is going to re-released! I am sure Bob realises that we would willingly pay full price for his music, the issue is being able to GET it. As for Two Women, I am assuming it wasw just coincidence that the...

Yummy yummy
("The 1910 Fruitgum Company wrote more meaningful lyrics than Bob Dylan"). The observation is untrue, but its falsehood cannot be demonstrated , certainly not Says who? The 1910 Fruitgum Company were at the cutting edge of musical experimentation. Even so, they paled into insignificance b...

How the Nights Can Fly... sometimes
How the Nights Can Fly ... except when you have insomnia and find yourself getting up in the middle of the night to log on to Bob Lind's message board, for something to do! Listened several times now to the Luna Star CD, and although I am not normally a fan of live albums I much enjoyed imagining my...

Bobs
Yes there is something magical about that name "Bob" ... but then I would say that wouldn't I? :) I agree with what you say about Dylan, though I do think Dylan does do some very good lyrics. My main problems with Dylan are: (1) his vocal delivery, which even his fans must admit is an acqu...

TJB
I also happen to think TJB is one of Bob's best. It is also one of his most Dylan-like, that being meant in a nice way, meaning a LOT of verses with a LOT of good lyrics.
Those who have read my other postings will know that I am not a total fan of Dylan, but he is undeniably good with words.

B & S repertoire
Given that "Boys" was by Thin Lizzie, who I believe were an Irish band, it would have to have been Belfast rather than Boston.
A song for each city? Either their touring is rather limited, or else they must have a large repertoire by now!

Misheard lyrics
Not exactly misheard - but misremembered maybe: One of the first vinyl records I bought was a 4-track EP that included Elusive Butterfly. I played it to death, of course, and my mother several times commented on the oddity of waking "to the sound of someone passing by your window with the wind&...

Sweet Harriet
I listen to Sweet Harriet, and I hear the echoes of at least 4 other songs in there. Not suggesting that Bob was guilty of any plagiarism, the tune is (as far as I know) original, but I can detect the influences.... I hear the opening chords, and at first I think here comes Remember the Rain. A litt...

The Music Box
The Circles album contains the track "Theme from The Music Box".
Can Bob, or anyone, please enlighten me: what is, or was, The Music Box? A movie? A TV series? or a project that never saw the light of day?
