(I realise I had posted this in the wrong section.)
I don't know if anyone still comes to this board, but I just felt like sharing this: the first and last album from a young Polish-Australian who took his own life three years ago. Read the back story here:

When I first heard this music, my reaction was the same as that of the guy from EMI - I could not believe this stuff was made by an 18-year-old kid in his bedroom with mattresses against the door for soundproofing, playing all the instruments and twiddling all the knobs himself. I can hear all sorts of influences in here: Simon & Garfunkel, Love (the band), Gotye, Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens, maybe even a little bit of Lind, but it doesn't really sound quite like any of those artists, it's something quite unique.
